Karla Hackenmiller is an Associate Professor and Printmaking Program Chair at Ohio University, Athens. She has participated in a number of invitational exchange portfolios and exhibits her work nationally and internationally at venues such as The Czech Museum of Fine Art, Prague; the Buddy Holly Art Center, Texas; the Mesa Arts Center in Arizona; the Katherine E. Ms. Hackenmiller has also delivered lectures and workshops at many institutions across the country, including the University of Utah, Salt Lake City; Metro State College, Denver, CO; Northern Illinois University, Dekalb; University of Kansas, Lawrence; University of Texas at Arlington; University of Miami, Florida; and Anderson Ranch in Colorado. Her work can be found in the public collections of the Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts, Los Angeles, CA; Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Paris, France; Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Salt Lake City, UT; Chattahoochee Valley Museum of Art, LaGrange, GA; and Huntsville Museum of Art, Huntsville, AL.

Active in professional service to the field, she has curated shows, juried exhibitions, and has recently served as a panel reviewer for the Greater Columbus Individual Arts Program. She was co-organizer of the Mid America Print Council (MAPC) biennial conference, “Forging Connections,” held in September 2006 at Ohio University. Also in 2006, she completed her second term as Secretary for the MAPC and served as a Board Member for the organization through 2008. Karla is also the co-founder and co-director of the annual “Inkahoots!” event - an outdoor, collaborative printing festival on the OU campus that involves high school students, college students and visiting artists.
